This week, one of our supporters, Lucky Bloke, launched a campaign to petition Twitter’s ban on sexual health ads, and they need your help!
We also need your help, because this affects The STI Project as well.

Twitter has lumped ads for condoms, safer sex, and sexual health education, such as the campaign we tried to launch in October of 2013, in with hate content, violence, drugs, and weapons.
The irony? Sexual health content, products, services, and support only serve to keep us safer.
I know. It’s ridiculous.
I’m pretty sure I don’t need to preface this call to action with anything other than the above, but in case you’re interested in some additional background, Melissa White, Lucky Bloke’s Founder and CEO, expands on the circumstances here.

In an interview with Think Progress on Wednesday, Lucky Bloke’s Founder and CEO, Melissa White, said, ‘There’s still so much stigma and shame attached to using condoms, and policies like this from big corporations just perpetuate that even further.’
We hear ya, Melissa! Stigma persists across all areas of sexual health, not just STDs, and to that we say, ‘No more.’
The problem with banning condoms, safer sex, or sexual health content is that it stifles awareness, impedes education, and makes prevention impossible.
All bad.
However, we can make a difference!
Help us effect change. All it takes is enough voices stating, well, the obvious, and someone (ah-hem, Dick Costolo) will listen.
What was it that Margaret Mead said? Ah, yes, ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’
Indeed, Ms. Mead, indeed.
